Baby Hamsters!

About 2 weeks ago, Chandler comes in and tells me "Mom, I know why Hummer was so fat! He had babies!". I look in the hamster cage to find some little pink jelly bean looking things in the hamster cage. I counted 6 little jelly beans with legs. So I seperated the two hamsters that we had (so we don't end up with more jelly beans), and began researching what to do with little hamster babies. I found out that they are pregnant for only 16-21 days and can get pregnant again only hours after giving birth! We did figure out that she got pregnant while Jason and I were on our cruise. They were in my sisters custody! So obviously she didn't pay very good attention to what they were doing! LOL Just kidding! You can't mess with the mom or the babies for two weeks or she will get agitated and kill them. So we have left them alone for two weeks and now they don't look like little jelly beans! We counted them and we only have 4 babies now. I am not sure if I counted wrong the first time, or if two babies didn't live. They are kinda ugly....they have really long legs for their little bodies. They are so ugly...that they are cute!

Our Cruise Disaster!

I finally got the pictures from our cruise downloaded. Jason and I went on a cruise in February. We left out of Galveston, Texas. It was supposed to be a 5 day cruise....but when Jason and I go on vacation....it never goes as it was planned. Our 5 day cruise turned into a 7 day cruise. Our ship got fogged out of the port. We couldn't dock back in Galveston for two days because of the fog. Now I know you are thinking....two more days of forced vacation....not to horrible. Now we were stuck on a cruise ship....so that part wasn't all bad. We still ate good and got to relax for two more days, but we missed our flights home, which just opens another can of worms. The cruise ship was by no means prepared to be stuck out at sea for two extra days. They did still feed us good, but we ran out of things to do. There is only so much you can do on a cruise ship.....so it stared to get boring. They replayed shows and comedians, so we got to see the same things twice. We got the same things for lunch and dinner twice, because we got served what the people that were supposed to be getting on the ship were going to have for dinner. One things that was a little scary is you could hear fog horns of other ships the whole time, but we couldn't see them. The ship captain assured us that they have equipment to know where every ship within 50 miles of us were, but it still gave me an uncomfortable feeling. When we woke up the second day, the fog was starting to break and we could see at least 50 ships, mostly cargo ships, anchored around us. Once the boat finally got to go into port....they docked us in a cargo-shipping yard. They did this because there was another cruise ship out at sea with us and there were people waiting to get on that one....so they got to dock at the regular cruise ship port. Since our ship was two days late...no one was waiting to get on our ship....so we got docked at a cargo-shipping yard. It took almost 5 hours for everyone to get off the ship because they only had about 7 shuttle buses to transport people back to regular cruise ship port. We were stuck in a stairwell, with our luggage, and hundreds of other people and their luggage for almost 2 hours.....just trying to get off the ship! That was the worst part of all!

We learned a few other important things on this cruise!

#1 - Mindy gets sea sick and the patches you wear for sea sickness make it worse. I spent the first day at sea sick! This got better as the cruise went on and I got to enjoy it after the first day.

#2 - Make sure to book a larger, newer ship. Our ship was one of the smaller ships and it was older. Not that it wasn't still nice, but we ran out of stuff to do because it was a smaller ship!
#3 - Book the trip insurance. That way when you miss your flights and have to pay a lot of money to get home....the cruise line will help pay for it!

#4 - Vacations never go as planned!!!!

It Has Been a While!!!

It is has been a long time since I posted on my blog last. I decided that I am going to try to get back into it. I don't know if anyone will read it....or even care....but it will give me a place to post what is going on in our little family! :o)
